5 Recipes to Make with a Fish Fillet
Until today, when you advertised “fish fillet” for supper, did your family members run into the house? Those days are over. Because we all want to include it more often in our menus, here are 7 recipes to make with a fish fillet.
1. In tacos
Sometimes it only takes a few things to go from Tuesday’s fish fillet to a real Latin fiesta! While baking a fish fillet for ten minutes in the oven, you can prepare taco side dishes of your choice: grain corn, cherry tomatoes, iceberg lettuce, grated cheese, sour cream, or plain yogurt, store-bought salsa, leaves coriander. We put everything on the table with small corn tortillas.
Our choice of fish: haddock, whose delicate white flesh mixes well with Latin American flavors.
For evenings where you have a little more time, candied fish is an excellent choice. Even if it takes longer to cook, it requires little intervention, which leaves time to do something else. Two options are possible to confit: cook for quite a long time (at least 45 minutes) at very low temperature (around 200 ° F) or even cook in a fatty like olive oil previously flavored with rosemary, thyme, grains pepper, for example. The result will be soft and tender as desired.
3. In soup
Everyone knows the famous clam chowder, but it can be adapted to different types of fish sold in the fillet. This creamy preparation can also accommodate frozen corn kernels or even white beans.
For a very simple bouillabaisse type soup, brown the fish cubes in the oil, add tomato coulis, chicken broth, frozen shrimps, and the herbs or spices you prefer and cook gently.
Our choice of fish: tilapia, chameleon fish that adapts to all recipes and that does not taste or smell too strong.
4. In a muffin
Take any recipe for a salted muffin with cheese and add nice cubes of lightly cooked fish. It is practical, it is eaten with your fingers and it freezes very well.
On a bed of arugula, with chopped cucumbers, the cooked and cooled fish presents itself nicely. Here are two dressing ideas to go with your fish salad:
- Asian vinaigrette: in a closing glass jar, mix 6 tablespoons of vegetable oil, 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar, the juice of a lime, a tablespoon of tahini, a tablespoon of Mirin and a teaspoon of Sriracha sauce. Shake and serve.
- Creamy dressing: in a closing glass jar, mix 3 tablespoons mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons yogurt, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 teaspoon garlic jar, 1 spoon potted horseradish, lemon juice, 1 tablespoon capers. Shake and serve.
