Helped Me Get A Real Grasp On Fly Fishing

by avidasecreta

When I first started fly fishing, I couldn’t seem to get the hang of it. I think I jumped into everything too quickly, and maybe I was too confident, as much as it pains me to admit it. I was excited to get started with it, but I wasn’t as concerned with getting it right as I should be. I pretty much jumped in with both feet without knowing how deep the water was.

Well, needless to say, I learned my lesson. I quickly came to realize that I did not know as much as I initially thought, and I should probably slow down and learn the right way. So I chose to slow down and take a break and educate myself.

It most certainly paid off. I found Trouts Fly Fishing and realized how many wonderful resources they had to offer to an everyday curious consumer like me, which was absolutely amazing. I never would have guessed that I’d find a place to get my gear that supplies me with such great information.

I worked on my patience to start, because clearly this sport requires that in heaps.  I had my main gear which was recommended by a friend, and came highly reviewed on Trouts Fly Fishing. I was not disappointed in the slightest. Humbled, maybe. But not disappointed.

I learned the basic things I needed to know, and it was time to learn about bait. It’s confusing as a newcomer unless you’re there with very experienced people who are your friends or family. That certainly helps a person get a real grasp on things.

So between the awesome amounts of information that I got on Trouts Fly Fishing and just learning from the people I cared about, I was in good shape. The only thing that I was still shaky on was what trout flies I needed to use. It’s quite a bit different from traditional fishing.

And again, Trouts Fly Fishing helped me with that too. I had the opportunity to try their dry flies or the nymphs. I tried both for different fishing outings. I got an idea of what suited me better and ordered what I needed.

I went with the Euro Nymphs, because personally, I had the best luck with those, and so far so good. My fishing is at a level that I’m pretty happy with, but there is always room for improvement. I’m really happy that I realized that I needed to take it down a notch and take my time with learning, otherwise I might not have ever really appreciated the sport for what it is.
